Questions about Huangshan & Huizhou Villages.
How much climbing is there on Huangshan?
We use cable cars both ways, with about four to five hours of walking on the mountain. The West Sea Canyon is demanding — you can walk part of it or use the funicular.
Are the mountain hotels comfortable?
They are practical rather than luxurious: smaller rooms at higher prices, but staying overnight is the only way to see sunrise and the cloud sea. We pick the best-located one.
When is the best time?
April to May and September to November. The cloud sea is most likely after rain clears; winter snow is beautiful but some paths close.
Can it connect to Shanghai or Hangzhou?
Yes. Huangshan North is about 1.5 hours to Hangzhou and three hours to Shanghai by high-speed rail, so it links easily into an East China itinerary.
