Private car and guide

One vehicle for your group only. Stop when you want, finish early when you want.

Why a private car matters in China

  • Distances between sights are long. The Qinghai–Gansu Grand Loop alone covers more than 2,000 km.
  • In highland and desert regions public buses are infrequent and fixed — missing one costs you half a day.
  • The places worth photographing are rarely next to a bus stop.
  • With elderly parents or children, being able to rest on demand is the whole point.

Choosing a vehicle

  • 2–3 guests: sedan or SUV with adequate luggage space.
  • 4–5 guests: a seven-seat MPV with a seat each.
  • 6–9 guests: business van or minibus.
  • 10 or more: mid-size or full-size coach, matched to the group.

Guides

Hong Kong guests travel with a Cantonese-speaking guide, Taiwan guests with a Mandarin-speaking one. The guide is licensed and separate from the driver — that is safer on long driving days and means your guide arrives fresh to explain things.

FAQ

Private car and guide

Can I have a car without a guide?

Yes. The car-with-driver option includes the driver but not guiding. It suits travellers who have done their homework and just need transport.

Will the driver speak Cantonese?

In most regions drivers speak Mandarin. If you need Cantonese throughout, we pair you with a Cantonese-speaking guide as well.

Are child seats available?

Yes, but tell us in advance — different vehicle models take different seat fittings.
