Chengdu Pandas & Jiuzhaigou private tour
Chengdu is a slow city — teahouses, hotpot, the alleys of Kuanzhai — worth two days on its own. North of it, Jiuzhaigou's hundred-plus alpine lakes turn turquoise and jade through mineral and travertine deposits. At 2,000–3,100 m it is gentler than Qinghai, making this the safest first China trip for a family.

Questions about Chengdu Pandas & Jiuzhaigou.
Is this good for young children?
Very good — it is our most requested family itinerary. Moderate altitude, air-conditioned vehicles and plenty of rest stops. The panda base and Dujiangyan are usually the highlights for children.
Is there altitude sickness in Jiuzhaigou?
Jiuzhaigou is 2,000–3,100 m, much lower than Qinghai, and most people feel nothing. Huanglong is 3,500 m, so we take the cable car up and walk down slowly.
How long is the drive from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou?
About seven to eight hours. You can also fly domestically in roughly an hour, which we can book and adjust the itinerary around.
When is the best season?
April to June for fresh green and good water levels; September and October for the best autumn colour, which is also peak season. July and August are rainy — still visitable with rain gear.
