Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get most, answered in one place.

Documents

Hong Kong residents travelling on a Home Return Permit generally need no visa for the mainland; Tibet requires real-name registration but no permit. Taiwan residents need a Taiwan Compatriot Permit, and Tibet additionally requires a Tibet Travel Permit with an accompanying guide.

Pricing

Pricing depends on group size, season, hotel grade, vehicle type, number of days and any special constraints. We do not publish a 'from' price — tell us the requirement and we quote precisely, with inclusions and exclusions itemised.

Groups

Our small private groups have no strangers in them unless you ask to share in order to reduce the per-person cost. Two guests is the minimum; four or more is better value.

Changes and altitude

Itineraries can be changed any time before departure at no charge. Qinghai Lake is around 3,196 m, Lhasa 3,650 m and Namtso 4,718 m; we pace the ascent gradually and carry oxygen.

Support and payment

The same consultant follows your trip on WhatsApp throughout, and your guide is with you each day. Deposit ratio and payment methods are set out in the confirmation document.
