For Taiwan Travellers

For Taiwan Travellers

Mandarin, a Taiwan Compatriot Permit, and Tibet permits handled for you.

Language

A Mandarin-speaking guide throughout, with documents in traditional Chinese. Taiwanese and mainland usage differ slightly, and we watch for wording that could cause confusion.

Documents and Tibet

Taiwan residents need a Taiwan Compatriot Permit to enter the mainland. Tibet additionally requires a Tibet Travel Permit, which must be applied for through a travel agency and requires travelling with a guide. We arrange both permits and border passes, and remind you to check your permit's validity.

Flights

  • Direct flights available to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xiamen, Nanjing and Hangzhou.
  • Connections needed for Xining, Dunhuang, Lhasa, Urumqi, Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou.
  • We compare all combinations from your departure city and pick the fastest.

Where Taiwan guests go most

Qinghai and Gansu (the Grand Loop), Lhasa in Tibet, and Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan are the three most popular. A high proportion travel with elderly parents, so we slow the pace accordingly.

Hotels and food

Hotels must register guests in real name and some are not licensed for Taiwan travellers — we confirm before booking. In the northwest and on the Tibetan plateau, beef, lamb and wheat noodles dominate. Vegetarian, no-beef or no-lamb requirements should be raised in advance.
