For Hong Kong Travellers

For Hong Kong Travellers

Cantonese, a Home Return Permit, and departure from West Kowloon. We know how Hong Kong guests travel.

Language

A Cantonese-speaking guide throughout, with briefings and emergency contact in Cantonese or traditional Chinese. Communication breakdown affects the whole trip — this is not the line item to save on.

Documents and hotels

A Home Return Permit normally covers mainland travel. Hotels must register guests in real name and some smaller establishments are not licensed for Hong Kong residents — we check before booking. If a permit is lost mid-trip we help you work through the procedure.

Getting there

  • Short hops to Shenzhen: Futian, Luohu and Shenzhen Bay crossings.
  • Guangzhou, Guilin, Xiamen and Shanghai: direct high-speed rail from West Kowloon.
  • Qinghai, Gansu, Xinjiang and Tibet: connect via Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu or Xi'an.
  • Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou: usually require a connection — we find the fastest combination.

Where Hong Kong guests go most

The Qinghai–Gansu Grand Loop (8–10 days) is the most requested. Next come the shorter Qinghai Lake and Chaka trip, Guilin and Yangshuo, and the classic Beijing plus Xi'an combination.

Food

We recommend restaurants to your taste. Qinghai and Gansu lean towards halal and northwestern cooking — spicier, with more lamb. If you prefer lighter Cantonese food, we plan city stops accordingly.
